NEC Ranked No. 1 in 2006 Enterprise Telephony Equipment Worldwide Market Share

Annual leading industry analyst study places NEC at the top for second year running

Tokyo, August 22, 2007 - For the second year in a row, NEC Corporation (NEC) has been ranked first in worldwide enterprise telephony equipment market share by Gartner. According to the firm’s July report titled “Market Share: Enterprise Telephony Equipment, Worldwide, 2006,” authored by Megan Fernandez and Isabel Montero, NEC is ranked first in global extension line shipments with 12 percent market share in 2006.

In addition, the Gartner study showed NEC’s enterprise telephony line shipments grew 11 percent over 2005, making this the company’s second year to achieve the top position. NEC believes this growth was due to strong sales throughout the world, most notably in the Asia/Pacific and Latin American regions, which respectively experienced 13 percent and 15 percent increases overall. The report also cites NEC’s focus on vertical markets and strong dealer network as growth contributors.
