NEC’s Network Security Solutions (NSS) experiences significant growth
January 14, 2008
IRVING, TX, Jan. 14, 2008 — Bolstered by a) an ever-increasing demand for security solutions, b) new and existing customer growth, and c) NEC’s entry into the Canadian market, NEC announced its Network Security Solutions (NSS) sales grew by 275 percent year-over-year from 2006 to 2007.
“The market response to NEC’s Network Security Solutions from both new and existing customers and referrals allowed for triple-digit growth in 2007,” said Llewellyn Derry, Director of Security Solutions at NEC. “In 2008, we anticipate similar growth through repeat business and new-customer referrals, as well as the expansion of our security services into new markets and offerings.
“Customer growth was focused in several vertical markets, including higher education, financial services, Wireless and Internet Service Providers and online retail, where we believe that threats against student, corporate and consumer data are highest”, Derry continued.
To help combat these threats and strengthen their security posture as they conduct business across the internet, NEC Network Security Solutions customers chose to utilize both managed and professional security consulting services.
In an independent 2006 Enterprise Customer Survey conducted by research firm InfoTech, NEC’s security assessments ranked highest in customer satisfaction among five major security consulting companies in North America.
“Managed and professional services are a cornerstone of the complete NEC communications and IT offering,” said Paul Lopez, general manager of marketing and services for NEC Unified Solutions. “Network Security Solutions have proven their worth time and time again as a proactive and reliable way to help secure IT and network assets in the enterprise.”
NEC’s Managed Security Services (MSS) offering, Threat Management Services led the growth trend in 2007 with an approximate 350 percent year-over-year increase in sales. NEC’s Threat Management Services provide 24/7/365 monitoring and management of enterprise IT infrastructure and internet traffic all through one internet portal.
Along with strategic alliance partner SecureWorks, an industry leading security services provider, NEC provides customers with 360 degree visibility into the uptime, throughput and integrity of their IT networks. NEC employs experienced and certified resources that can take swift and appropriate action when security threats arise.
Meanwhile, NEC’s Professional Security Services (PSS), which includes security consulting engagements such as vulnerability assessments (VA), penetration testing (PT) and wireless assessments, showed an approximate 200 percent year-over-year increase in 2007.
NEC’s professional security services provide customers with a snapshot of their internal and external network security posture from a hacker’s point of view. The purpose is to identify, triage and provide actionable information and intelligence to assist customers in addressing potential IT vulnerabilities.
